With roots tracing back to its rich agricultural and early twentieth-century railroad history, West Perrine stands as a testament to resilience and community spirit.

Established by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in accordance with Chapter 163 of the Florida Statutes, the West Perrine CRA was founded to combat slum and blight conditions within the West Perrine Community Redevelopment Area (Area). This Area encompasses four distinct subareas, including residential neighborhoods, transitional agricultural zones, commercial districts along Dixie Highway, and light industrial areas featuring warehouses and large-scale regional retail establishments.

Led by a dedicated team and supported by Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee of County Commission District 9, the Agency embarked on its mission in 2007. However, economic challenges led to a reassessment of our timeline, prompting the Board to extend our mandate until 2046, ensuring ample time and resources for the implementation of strategic initiatives outlined in our Redevelopment Plan.

At the helm of the West Perrine CRA Board are individuals deeply committed to our community's progress. Led by Leviticus L. Gilliard as Chair and Tyreke Spann as Vice-Chair, our board members, including Willie L. Carpenter, Rhonda Richardson-Comer,  Veronica Thompkins, and Kevin Richardson, bring a wealth of experience and passion to our endeavors.
