Hibiscus Grove Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Set for October 6 - West Perrine Community Redevelopment Agency

The West Perrine Community Redevelopment Agency invites the community to the Pre-Leasing Office Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Hibiscus Grove on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at 9948 W. Hibiscus Street.

The ceremony marks a milestone for a project this community has watched rise for more than a year. Hibiscus Grove is an affordable and workforce housing development with 30 rental units for households with incomes at 30 percent of area median income (“AMI”) and below, 195 rental units for households with incomes at 60 percent of AMI and below, and 45 rental units for households with incomes at 80 percent of AMI and below. The CRA broke ground on the site in July 2025, and today the building stands nine stories over West Hibiscus Street, wrapped in floral murals that have become a landmark on the corner.

Leasing opens officially on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with the ribbon-cutting following that week.

Members of the West Perrine CRA Board will take part in the ceremony: Chair Leviticus Gilliard Sr., Vice-Chair Tyreke Spann, Secretary Veronica Thompkins, and board members Willie Carpenter, Kevin Richardson and Rhonda Richardson-Comer.

The community is invited to attend.
